Salem Poetry Project Featuring Susan Morse @ Ike Box

The Salem Poetry Project continues at the Ike Box, 299 Cottage St. NE Salem. Each week will present a featured reader followed by the Infamous Open Mic: 3 poems or five minutes whichever is first. Featuring Susan Morse

Susan Morse grew up in California, but also lived in Maine for thirty years. She earned a Masters degree in Literacy Education, taught middle school Language Arts, and attended writing conferences at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Stonecoast Writers’ Conference. She moved to Salem in 2016 and is currently a member of the Oregon Poetry Association and the Mid Valley Poetry Society. Poems have appeared in various journals such as Cream City Review, The Mom Egg,and Willawaw Journal. Susan frequently participates in readings through Salem Poetry Project. “In the Hush,” her first chapbook, deals with the effects of distance on relationships and with relatives who have succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease.

Salem Poetry Project Featuring Franca Hernandez @ IKE Box

Franca Hernandez is a photographer, non-fiction, fiction writer, and poet. As a freelance journalism writer, she published articles in Northwest Senior and Boomer News, Oregon Coast magazine, Women’s Journal, Cascades Horseman, Active Northwest, Capital Press, Statesman-Journal, one piece on-line at Medicinal Food News. She completed her first novel set in 10th Century Venice and the Silk Road.
