Salem Poetry Project Featuring Dale Champlin @ IKE Box
Jul 26 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

After many years as a graphic designer, illustrator and copywriter, Dale Champlin now devotes most of her time to writing poetry. Her MFA in painting and photography developed her critical eye. Dale’s first book of poetry, Doggerel; twelve dogs and one cat, and her chapbook, Twisted Furniture, were published last year. Currently she is working on two collections, Leda, and Feathers, a series of monochords about birds. When she’s not writing poetry, Dale designs books, publicity campaigns and logos. As adjunct to the board of the Oregon Poetry Association, she is the editor of the 2017 Verseweavers collection of poetry. Dale is the current director of Conversations With Writers, a monthly presentation by accomplished writers leading spirited discussions about the craft of writing. Dale has published in Social Justice Poetry, North Coast Squid, and VoiceCatchers.

Featured reader begins at 7:00 and the open mic will directly follow. Our hosts, the Ike Box, feature a wide variety of beverages and snack options!

The Ike Box is located at 229 Cottage St NE in Salem, at the intersection of Chemawa and Cottage.

Submission Call (Amalie Rush Hill)
Aug 1 all-day

We are seeking Oregon poets to submit their work to Bob Hill Publishing, Inc., to be considered for inclusion in a collection of poetry.
All profits after publisher’s expenses are met, will be donated to benefit the work of the ACLU.
As a follow-up to our recently published book, Moments Before Midnight, again the subject will be your reaction to the current political milieu, bigotry, climate change, immigration or other recent events that impact people in general, and Oregonians in particular.
Please keep your poem under three pages and be careful about your language, as we prefer that you not use x-rated words. We honor your right of free speech, so be aware that any profanity used must be necessary to the message of the poem. Otherwise, we will look for your passion, concern and skill.
Number the pages and put your name on every page. Poems must be typed, single-spaced is fine. One poem per page, one column per page, and no more than five poems. Use a 12-point font New Times Roman or Helvetica, no fancy fonts, please.
This book will be a print volume available at independent bookstores in OR. If your poem is included in the volume, you will receive a complimentary copy of the book.
Your poem will be considered on its merits, chosen by the publisher. The editors will be using MLA (Modern Language Association www.mla.org) as the standard for editing and formatting. Final decisions will be at the discretion of the editors.
The deadline for submissions is August 1. 2018. We look forward to receiving your poetry. All work will be considered.

Send your submissions to:
