Salem Poetry Project Featuring Michael Wynn @ IKE Box

Michael Wynn is a former logger who now practices neurology, subspecializing in stroke and telemedicine, in Salem. His chapbook “Bodies of Evidence” was published in 2015. His poems have appeared in the Cortland Review, JAMA, the Oregonian, Hektoen International, and Untitled Country Review.

Salem Poetry Project Featuring Larry Anderson @ IKE Box

Larry Anderson was a college professor for 40 years. Upon retirement in 2002, he and his wife Christine (retired mental health professional) settled in Molalla to be close to family. Ten years ago he became interested in poetry and joined The Friends of William Stafford, The Molalla Writers Group and The Silverton Poetry Association. He has taken numerous workshops, has been tutored by Paulann Petersen and Cindy Stewart-Renier, published several papers in poetry related publications including an Anthology and his own Chapbook , Earthquakes. He has been very active in open mics including many in Silverton. Larry was a student of William Stafford in 1961-1962, and his favorite Stafford Poem is Lit Instructor, a copy of which he kept on his office desk for over 20 years.

This day’s featured reader is YOU AND SOMEONE ELSE. Bring a poem (printed or typewritten) to share, there will be an extra sign-up sheet. Before the reading begins everyone who signed up for the poetry exchange will hand their poem to someone else on the list. Your poem will be read by that other person, it will give you an excellent perspective one how others read your work. The regular infamous open mic will directly follow.

Head for the Hills! is an ongoing open mic poetry reading. We meet the last Tuesday of each month. We are solely open mic. Poets may read up to 5 minutes. Doors are open even if you’re late. Free parking in garbage. Light refreshments served. The sign-up sheet is available at 6pm.

Salem Poetry Project Featuring Orion Davidson, Jim Merrill, and Marc Janssen @ IKE Box

Two poets and a flutist present an evening of words and music. Jim Merrill is an MFA graduate of the Kerouc School in Boulder and author of two book length collections of poetry. Marc Janssen is an internationally published poet and oldish scamp. Orion Davidson has been playing flute since middle school and currently performs at two different churches. When not performing, Davidson enjoys hiking and photographing Oregon wilderness.
