Around the World With 6 Poets: Zoom class @ 6-week Zoom class from Catamaran Literary Reader
Oct 7 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

A six-week Zoom class, Around the World with Six Poets, starts on October 7. For more info or to register:
https://catamaranliteraryreader.com/worldpoetrywithzackrogow

“These are some of my favorite writers, all of them modern poets whose work is highly accessible and moving. These poets not only changed literature, they transformed the way we see the world.”—Zack Rogow, instructor
The six writers represent very different but connected regions of the globe:
Yosano Akiko (Japan)
Anna Akhmatova (Russia)
Federico García Lorca (Spain)
Pablo Neruda (Chile)
Léopold Sédar Senghor (Senegal)
Nazim Hikmet (Turkey)

The class includes slides about the poet’s life, placing the writers in the context of the dynamic historical and literary changes they were part of. We also hear brief excerpts of the poetry in the original languages, to give a flavor of the poet’s actual speech. Each class will include optional writing prompts for creative inspiration.
