Salem Poetry Project Featuring Lois Rosen

Lois Rosen’s writing blends the nuances of life in Yonkers, New York with the laid-back tastes of apple rhubarb crisp from an Oregon farmers market.

Her work has been recognized by the Oregon Poetry Association, Oregon Writers’ Colony, and Willamette Writers. The latter awarded her the Kay Snow First Place Fiction Award for “Herring,” set in New York and published in the Timberline Review. The Portland Liars’ League performed and recorded her short story, “The Hollywood Life.” She is also the author of three poetry collections—Diving and Rising (Finishing Line Press), Pigeons (Traprock Books), Nice and Loud (Tebot Bach) and has published poems and short fiction in over 100 literary journals including Calyx, Arlington Literary Review, and Crab Creek Review. Lois received an MFA from The Rainier Writing Workshop and has taught English as a Second Language in Oregon, New York, Japan, Ecuador, Colombia, and Costa Rica.

She co-founded the Peregrine Poets, and leads two Amherst Writers Workshops—Salem’s Trillium Writers and the Institute for Continued Learning group at Willamette University. She is a willing coach and cheerleader for many aspiring writers.

When not involved in literary endeavors, Lois enjoys learning languages, strolling through botanical gardens, and laughing with friends and family.
