Poetry Competition at the Oregon State Fair–Deadline Aug. 7

If a pie and a jar of pickles can win a blue ribbon at the State Fair, why not a poem?

At the Oregon State Fair, poems have their own competition, with separate levels for adults (Professional and Experienced) and young people (Junior and Teen). Poems will be displayed together with works of visual art, and they have a chance of winning a blue ribbon. They are to be prepared as mounted broadsides and can be offered for sale to fairgoers. The deadline for entries is Thursday, August 7. Those wishing to enter should register online at http://oregonstatefair.org/competitions/creative-artistic. Complete guidelines are available in the online handbook and on page 20 of the “Arts” section of the Exhibitor Handbook.
