DESCRIPTION:River Road Reading Series (RRRS) will present Caroline Goodwin (guest from San Francisco) and Oregonian poet/authors Alan Contreras and Jacob Berns on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 4:30 to 6:00 pm PST both IN-person at the River Road Annex, 1055 River Road and online through https://riverroadreadings.blogspot.com/.\nJacob Thomas Berns received his MFA from the University of Oregon. His\nstories have appeared in Painted Bride Quarterly, North Dakota Quarterly, The\nBriar Cliff Review, and elsewhere. He is at work on a novel.\nCaroline Goodwin moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Sitka, Alaska, in\n1999 to attend Stanford as a Wallace Stegner Fellow in poetry. Her recent books\nare Old Snow, White Sun (JackLeg Press), Madrigals (Big Yes Press),\nand Matanuska (Aquifer Press, Wales, UK). She teaches at California College of the\nArts, Stanford Continuing Studies, and UC Berkeley Extension; from 2014-16 she\nserved as the first Poet Laureate of San Mateo County, CA, where she lives on the\ncoast with her two pugs, Jimi Hendrix and Lyric.\nhttp://www.carolinegoodw.com/\nAlan L. Contreras is a fourth-generation Oregonian and a graduate of the\nUniversity of Oregon. His recent OSU Press books include A History of Oregon\nOrnithology and Collected Poems of Ada Hastings Hedges (edited with Ulrich\nHardt). His poetry has appeared in Gay and Lesbian Review, Chronicle of Higher\nEducation, Fireweed and other venues. He has published three poetry\ncollections, Night Crossing (2004), Firewand (2014) and In the Time of the\nQueen (2018).
