SUMMARY:Salem Poetry Project at Marco Polo Featuring Colette Tennant
DESCRIPTION:For the month of April the Salem Poetry Project will meet at Marc Polo Global Restaurant. The restaurant’s address is 300 Liberty St SE, Salem and the reading will be in the banquet room.\nColette is the author of Reading the Gothic in Margaret Atwood’s First Seven Novels; Commotion of Wings, a poetry book published by Main Street Rag in 2010 as an Editor’s Choice; Eden and After, a  poetry book published by Tebot Bach in 2015, Religion in The Handmaid’s Tale: a Brief Guide, published in 2019 to coincide with Atwood’s publication of The Testaments, and Sweet Gothic, just published in December of 2023. Her poems have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and have been published in various journals, including Southern Poetry Review, Rattle, and Prairie Schooner. She has three grown children and two grandchildren and lives with her husband and one cat in Salem, Oregon. She enjoys traveling, playing the piano, writing music, and Scrabble. Colette received her Ph.D. in English from Ohio State University. This is her twenty-ninth year as an English and Humanities Professor at Corban University where she teaches literature, Humanities, and creative writing classes. She has also taken students on study tours of Great Britain and has taught art in Germany and Italy.\nEach week the Salem Poetry Project presents a featured reader followed by the Infamous Open Mic: 3 poems or five minutes whichever is first.
