SUMMARY:The Studio Series Poetry Reading & Open Mic
DESCRIPTION: \n \nFeaturing Ann Farley and Debra Elisa Wöhrmann\n Ann Farley, an only child of two only children, learned at a very early age to entertain herself by making up stories and playing with words. Her poems have appeared in Peregrine, Timberline Review, Third Wednesday, Gobshite Quarterly, Willawaw, VerseWeaver, and elsewhere. Her chapbook, Tell Her Yes, was published in 2022 by The Poetry Box.\nDebra Elisa Wöhrmann explores joy and sorrow, grief and ecstasy through her poetry and fiction. She believes sharing stories can save lives and co-hosts The Humble Poets’ Open Mic in North Portland every last Sunday, 4-6pm. After years of teaching at a community college, she now leads Poetry Play workshops and retreats. You Can Call It Beautiful, her first book of poems, was published by MoonPath Press in 2023. She lives in Portland and loves to lose herself in her backyard garden, along the coast, and in lush forests—often with her dog and partner. Her novel-in-verse, The StoryCatcher, written for the middle-grade audience, is currently roaming the world in hopes of finding its way to publication. You can connect with Debra through her website, debraelisa.com ( http://debraelisa.com/ ).\nThe Open Mic is open to all audience members. Participants can sign up before the start of the reading or during the break. In the interest of time, Open Mic readers are asked to limit their reading to three minutes.\nView clips of featured poets reading at the Studio Series on Instagram @poet_landia and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1281329966139780/ ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1281329966139780/ )\nThe Ross Island Grocery and Café is a cozy space with capacity for 40 or so people. Tables are available, so people who arrive early can enjoy a light supper (i.e., a sandwich, salad or burger) while waiting for the reading to begin. If we run out of table space, folding chairs are available. A mic will enhance the readings. There is plenty of unrestricted parking on the streets around the Café.\n \nQuestions?
