SUMMARY:The Studio Series Poetry Reading & Open Mic
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Jennifer Richter and Paige Thomas\n Jennifer Richter has published three award winning poetry collections. Her first, Threshold, was a national bestseller chosen for publication by former U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey; both Threshold and Richter’s second collection, No Acute Distress, were Oregon Book Award Finalists; her third, Dear Future, won the Tenth Gate Prize for Midcareer Poets. Richter is a Chicago native who moved to the West Coast thirty years ago when she was awarded a Wallace Stegner Fellowship and Jones Lectureship in Poetry by Stanford University; for the past fifteen years, she’s taught in Oregon State’s MFA program. You can find her online at JenniferRichterPoet.com.\nPaige Thomas is an award-winning writer, visual artist, and arts educator. Her creative work has received support from Regional Arts & Culture Council, 21ten Theatre, Spring Creek Project, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from Oregon State University, and Person Under is her debut visual poetry collection.\nThe Open Mic is open to all audience members. Participants can sign up before the start of the reading or during the break. In the interest of time, Open Mic readers are asked to limit their reading to three minutes.\nView clips of featured poets reading at the Studio Series on Instagram @poet_landia and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1281329966139780/ ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1281329966139780/ )\nThe Ross Island Grocery and Café is a cozy space with capacity for 40 or so people. Tables are available, so people who arrive early can enjoy a light supper (i.e., a sandwich, salad or burger) while waiting for the reading to begin. If we run out of table space, folding chairs are available. A mic will enhance the readings. There is plenty of unrestricted parking on the streets around the Café.\n \n \n \n
