With the writer’s permission, selected pieces will also be shared on MAC’s Facebook page. Kim Stafford called MAC’s poetry pole “just exactly what it is, the most beautiful poetry post in Portland,” built and designed by five local artists, with nearly 200 poems distributed to the
public each month.
Guidelines:
• Email up to two typed works, no longer than one page each (Word or PDF format) to:

• Include short bio and phone number in your email.
• Poetry with English translation welcome.
• Content should be appropriate for all ages.
• Submissions must be received by 10/1/2018. Writers will be notified of decisions by

Joe Wilkins is the author of a memoir, The Mountain and the Fathers, and three collections of poetry, including When We Were Birds, winner of the 2017 Oregon Book Award in Poetry. His debut novel, Fall Back Down When I Die, is forthcoming from Little, Brown in early 2019. He lives with his family in western Oregon, where he directs the creative writing program at Linfield College.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO! Submit your poems for our 8th issue of The Poeming Pigeon. The theme, this time around, is SPORTS. Share your love of the game. Share stories from a fan’s perspective. Relive your glory days. Share how sports have shaped you as person. Dive into controversy surrounding our favorite athletes. We invite you to interpret and expand upon the theme however you like.
The Sports Issue scheduled for release in Spring 2019.

Nitza Hernández-López was born in Puerto Rico and is a retired professor at the University of Puerto Rico. Her art works include acrylic painting, photography, and poetry. Lopez’ has been exhibited at events and art galleries in Salem and Independence,OR. In December She won the third prize in the Poetry Contest of the Institute of Oregonian Culture (ICO) and several of her poems have been published in the 1A Antologia de Poesia Oregoniana. Her poems and art pieces reflect her social concerns, multicultural identity and her connection with her origins.

Animal behaviorist/writer Rosemary Douglas Lombard enjoyed roles as biomedical librarian, naturalist, and university teacher, but cherishes decades exploring turtles’ cognitive potential. She won firsts in nonfiction and poetry and published in Bay Nature and Verseweavers, among others. Writings include Turtles All the Way (Finishing Line Press) and WIP Diode’s Experiment.

Stephanie Lenox is the author of three poetry collections, most recently The Business, winner of the Colorado Prize for Poetry, and Congress of Strange People, a collection of poems inspired by Guinness World record holders. Her textbook, Short-Form Creative Writing: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology, is forthcoming from Bloomsbury this fall. She lives in Salem where she works as an instructional editor for Chemeketa Press.
