Please join me to celebrate the launch of Andrea Hollander’s 5th full-length poetry collection, Blue Mistaken for Sky, at Powell’s City of Books, 1005 W. Burnside, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 16.
In her masterful, inclusive way—I love the way she welcomes a listener into her poems as she gives voice to them—Andrea will read selections from her new book, and this is a reading you don’t want to miss.
After her reading, I’ll host a discussion of Andrea’s work, one that will include responding to questions from the audience, an audience I hope will include you.
Though Powell’s lists this event as Andrea Hollander in Conversation with Paulann Petersen, I think of it as “Andrea in conversation with the lucky people who have just heard her read some of the splendid poems in her new collection.”
A couple of pre-publication reviews will give you some idea about the power and resonance of the poems in Blue Mistaken for Sky. In one of these reviews, Grace Cavalieri says, “Some days, I think that hope is such a long way away, and then I read a poet like this — and life is in full gear. “
Please take a look at these laudatory reviews, and then come to Powell’s on Sunday, September 16th, to hear Andrea read from the book that’s occasioning such high, high praise.
