The mission of the Instituto de Cultura Oregoniana (ICO) is to promote the Spanish-speaking culture in the state of Oregon, as well as multilingualism as a source of common prosperity. We define Oregonianos, the people of Oregon who speak Spanish, by the use of the common language and not by our physical appearance. Spanish speakers in Oregon are a factor that generates wealth, and ensure historical preservation through linguistic and cultural inclusion. We believe that speaking more than one language is a reason for celebration, and share the Oregonian identity with all who wants to assume it. It’s an honor for ICO to present at the Salem Poetry Project the first generation of Poetas Oregonianos.
