McMinnville Library presents Shawn Aveningo-Sanders

It’s Poetry Night at the McMinnville Library, featuring poet Shawn Aveningo-Sanders.

Shawn Aveningo-Sanders grew up in St Louis, Missouri, and after a bit of globetrotting eventually landed in Portland, Oregon, where she miraculously overcame her fear of birds upon meeting two baby juncos in her backyard. Shawn’s work has appeared worldwide in over 160 literary journals and anthologies, including Calyx, Amsterdam Quarterly, Timberline Review, VoiceCatcher, American Journal of Poetry, and Poets Reading the News. She is the author of What She is Wearing, an inspirational book of poetry that reveals her #metoo secret—from survival to empowerment. Shawn is a book designer & editor and is the co-founder of The Poetry Box®. an independent press specializing in poetry books. She’s a multiple Pushcart nominee, Best of the Net nominee and managing editor for The Poeming Pigeon. She was voted Best Female Poet-Performer in Sacramento News & Review (2009) and was winner of the first poetry slam in Placerville, California (2012). Shawn is a proud mother of three amazing humans and grandmother to one darling baby girl. She shares the creative life with her husband, Robert.
