Music, Poetry, and Calls for Peace

Featured guest Ingrid Wendt of Eugene will read five original poems during a special cross-cultural, collaborative concert of richly varied music. The evening includes the world premiere of Lacrimosa, a new choral composition by Paul Safar, inspired by and set to one of Wendt’s poems, and performed by Portland’s premier vocal ensemble, Humanis. The ensemble will sing four additional works on themes of reconciliation and peace, juxtaposed with a lively mix of classical, jazz, traditional, original, contemporary, and folk music by piano and hurdy-gurdy duo Safar (of Eugene) and hurdy-gurdist Marc Egea (Barcelona, Spain).
