WHAT WE HOLD & LEAVE BEHIND—Poetry Writing Workshop for ELDERS: In conjunction with the What We Hold & Leave Behind Exhibition of Oregon Senior Seasoned Poets, Central Library Facilitated by Willa Schneberg Sunday, August 23, 1-4PM; 3 Hours – 1-4PM COME WRITE ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL OBJECT This workshop will be in conjunction with the exhibition in the Collins Gallery— a pairing of photographs of special objects and poems written by senior, seasoned poems on digital prints—co-curated by photographer Jim Lommasson & poet Willa Schneberg. No prior poetry writing experience necessary. Is there an object you consider metaphorical or symbolic of your life? Is there an object that signifies accomplishment? Is there an object that brings to mind a loved one/frenemy or a difficult/ exciting time of your life? Is there an object that you would want to pass down, and to whom? Would you like to write a poem about this object? If you answered “Yes” to any of these, please join Willa and bring paper, a writing implement, and your special object. Poetry prompts by the poets in the WHAT WE HOLD exhibit will be utilized to get you going. There will be time to share your poem with fellow participants and discuss why your object is special to you.
