Salem Poetry Project Featuring a Celebration of Roger Weaver
In February, we lost Roger Weaver. Weaver was a poet and teacher, serving his craft and students for over five decades. Weaver taught at Oregon State University for over 5 decades. While he taught English to young minds, he wrote poetry, founded a nonprofit organization called Poetry Enterprises in Corvallis, founded “To Topos” – a journal dedicated to poetry worldwide. This evening poets will share Weaver’s poems and their memories of him. The open mic will be an opportunity for attendees to do the same.
The Salem Poetry Project continues at the Bush Barn Annex, 600 Mission St SE, Salem. Parking for the Bush Barn and Bush House is located off of High Street and the Annex entrance is just to the left of the main entrance. Each week will present a featured reader followed by the Infamous Open Mic: 3 poems or five minutes whichever is first. Featured reader begins at 7:00 and the open mic will directly follow.
