Salem Poetry Project Featuring Andres Mendoza
Andres Mendoza is a Multi-Media artist, published author, and poet. Growing up, in Los Angeles, early childhood meant facing marginalization and gang warfare. Moving to Oregon, at age 17, he faced several Measure 11 changes. Through writing, he challenges marginalization by writing about personal experiences while humanizing those marginalized. He has been featured in Portland Monthly Arts & Culture. His book “American, Us.” Also co-authored by Emily Prado, has been sold at Powell’s City of books small press.
The Salem Poetry Project continues at the Bush Barn Annex, 600 Mission St SE, Salem. Parking for the Bush Barn and Bush House is located off of High Street and the Annex entrance is just to the left of the main entrance. Each week will present a featured reader followed by the Infamous Open Mic: 3 poems or five minutes whichever is first. Featured reader begins at 7:00 and the open mic will directly follow.
