Salem Poetry Project Featuring Concepción Sámano

Ma. Concepción Sámano Patiño, was born in Jaral del Progreso, Guanajuato, Mexico in 1971.
She obtained a degree in philosophy at the University of Guanajuato. She was a fellow of the State Fund for Culture and the Arts in the area of narrative (1999-2000) and poetry (2002). She has attended various courses, workshops (with Guillermo Samperio, among others) and seminars on literature and plastic arts and served as a cultural promoter publishing in various newspapers and magazines (Correo, Saddlebag, Tierra Adentro, and Inside Window). She has participated in national and international meetings and coordinated various reading literacy workshops. She has published the following books of poems The Days of Yellow Light (Ediciones Del Manantial, 2002), Melussina or the perennial aroma of carnations and The Darkness of Origin (sponsored by the House of Culture and the College of Architects of Guanajuato, 2009), and body that takes me (Ediciones La Rana, Government of the State of Guanajuato, 2013). She is currently living in Salem, Oregon.

The Salem Poetry Project continues virtually. Each week presents a featured reader followed by the Infamous Open Mic: 3 poems or five minutes whichever is first. Featured reader begins at 7:00 and the open mic will directly follow. For zoom details contact Marc Janssen at [email protected]
