The Studio Series Poetry Reading and Open Mic

Featuring Doug Stone and Janice Rubin

Doug Stone is a fourth generation Oregonian and lives with his wife between Albany and Corvallis near the Willamette River in Benton County. He worked in social services for 40 years and most recently was an analyst and consultant on public policy issues for states, AARP, and the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice. He has won the Oregon Poetry Association’s Poet Choice Award and is a two time Pushcart nominee. His poems have been published in numerous journals and in the anthology, A Ritual To Read Together: Poems in Conversation with William Stafford. He has written two chapbooks, The Season of Distress and Clarity (Finishing Line), and The Moon’s Soul Shimmering on the Water (KPD), and a poetry collection, Sitting in Powell’s Watching Burnside Dissolve in Rain (The Poetry Box).
Janice D. Rubin is a counselor and educator. Her poems have appeared in San Pedro River Review, Third Wednesday: a Literary & Arts Journal, The Timberline Review, Red River Review, CIRQUE, Glass: A Journal of Poetry among others. Her work has been nominated for the Pushcart Poetry Prize and widely anthologized appearing in publications such as the Austin International Poetry Anthology and Pandemic Puzzle Poems Anthology, (Blue Light Press). In 2018 she was a finalist for the Blue Light Press Book Award. She has taught at Oregon State University and Lane Community College, teaching Introduction to Poetry Writing through the Continuing Education Program. She’s the author of the chapbook, Transcending Damnation Creek Trail (Flutter Press, 2010) and the full length poetry collections, Tin Coyote (Blue Light Press, 2018) and Crossing the Burnside Bridge & Other Poems (Cirque Press, 2023).
