A Quick Update on the OPA

In the spirit of posting more frequently this year…
In early 2025, the OPA board established several key activities for the year:

  • The 25th Cascadia Youth Poetry Contest and its accompanying anthology. The contest will be open March 2nd to May 2nd.
  • Publication of the 29th Verseweavers anthology featuring winning verse from 2024 contests, to be sent out shortly to members.
  • Conducting the 2025 Spanish Poetry Contest, an April National Poetry Month contest exclusively for OPA members only, and the multi-category Summer/Fall Contest for both members and non-members.
  • The board also voted again this year to help support sending the Slamlandia Grand Slam poet winner to the national competition in New Mexico this summer.
  • Lastly, The annual conference will be held once again in early October… stay tuned for an official announcement.

Only paid-up members will receive Verseweavers, be able to submit to the April adult contest (no fee), and receive discounts on the summer/fall contest and annual conference.
