OPA will hold its annual conference at the University Place Hotel owned by Portland State University on the weekend of October 13-15. Emmett Wheatfall headlines as keynote speaker.
Friday night festivities include a keynote talk and readings by Emmett and time for an open mic. Saturday includes workshops, lunch, and possibly an evening open mic. Sunday concludes with morning workshops. Browse the book room and bring books of your own to sell.
Call the hotel at (503)221-0140 or (866)845-4647 before September 12th to get the group rate: $84.00 for a deluxe single or double. That’s an unbeatable rate for Portland lodging! Advance deposit (or credit card guarantee) required. Be sure to mention the Oregon Poetry Association.
Submit a Proposal between May 1 and June 1, 2017
Please submit a one-page proposal with:
Presenter name(s)
Workshop: include examples and writing exercises
Panel: include different viewpoints on a topic, theme, form
Presentation: slide show, multi-media, history, etc.
Reading: focus on theme, e.g. nature, bilingual, poetry of witness
Other: Please describe in detail
Please list any A/V needs for your presentation

Presenters will be notified of acceptance by June 23, 2017 via email.
Presenters receive lunch on Saturday, and free conference registration. Any who need overnight accommodations will be able, as all conference attendees, to reserve a room at the  special rate of $84 per night (plus taxes and parking) at the
University Place Hotel.
